Pine Street Clinic has offered herbal formulas since 1982. Pine Street Clinic is home to acupuncturists and integrative medicine experts. Our online store lists more than 2,000 Chinese herbal formulas and single herbs, and Pine Street Clinic is an authorized retailer of every brand it sells.

Forms

Teapills are small round pills, usually sold in bottles of 200. Extract granules and whole herbs are sold in gram sizes, capsules and tablets by count, and liquids by volume. The same formula is often available in more than one form and from more than one brand.

How products are named

Each product title carries the formula's English name and its Pinyin name. Different makers sometimes use different English names for the same formula, so the Pinyin name is the most reliable way to compare. For example, Qi Ju Di Huang Wan is listed as:

What the manufacturers say about quality

These are the manufacturers' own statements, not Pine Street Clinic's.

  • Mayway, which created the Plum Flower and Bamboo Pharmacy brands, states on its quality assurance page that every finished batch is tested for pesticides, heavy metals and microbes, that aristolochic acid and pesticide testing is also done at third-party labs, that the authenticity of each herb species is confirmed before use, and that a Certificate of Analysis is available on request for every Mayway product, with some exceptions for external-use and grocery items.
  • Sun Ten states on its quality control page that herbs and finished products are regularly tested for heavy metals, microbiological contamination, aflatoxin and pesticides, that it screens for aristolochic acid, that a Certificate of Analysis is issued for every batch, and that production follows PIC/S GMP guidelines.

Shipping and returns

  • Orders for in-stock items placed before 9:00 am Pacific Time typically ship the same business day, Monday through Friday.
  • Some items ship from our San Anselmo, California location; others ship directly from the manufacturer or an authorized distributor.
  • Most brands we carry ship within the United States only.
  • Unopened, unused and unexpired products can be returned within 60 days of the order date with a Return Authorization Number. Store credit is the default.
  • If a product page says the item is final sale, it cannot be returned.
