Ganoderma lucidum, also known as reishi or lingzhi, is a common polypore mushroom found throughout the world.  Its red-varnished, kidney-shaped cap and peripherally inserted stem gives it a distinct fan-like appearance. 

BIOMASS VERSUS EXTRACTS
Reishi can generally be used in two forms: extract and biomass. Most reishi on the market is an extract, but current science increasingly suggests that biomass is superior because it also incorporates important immune-enhancing enzyme activity, such as superoxide dismutase, peroxidase, glucoamylase, and protease activities, which are not detected in the extracted forms of mushrooms.

This reishi mushroom powder in this formulas is from mycelial biomass.

ADDITIONAL GROWING NOTES
The reishi mushroom is grown on organic brown rice. The product is dried at a moderately low temperature to preserve the active enzymes.
